A comprehensive review of the alternative operating system Linux with the Orca screen reader for the Gnome graphical desktop environment.
This was one of the first recordings to be posted to LALRecordings.com and may now be considered slightly out of date as since that time many improvements and enhancements have been made to accessibility and usability of the Linux operating system thanks to the efferts of the Orca developers. However, this will give you a very good idea of just some of the capabilities of this system and should help demonstrate that the Orca screen reader running on Linux is a viable alternative to users who are visually impaired or Blind. During this review, we demonstrate web browsing using Firefox, word processing using Open Office, Email using Evolution and instant messaging using Pidgin.
